How to Feel in Control When the World Feels Out of Control.
It’s the day after the US election. I woke up to a full inbox in my emails, texts, and social media messages from clients, friends, & family asking what was happening in our country. They also shared feelings of devastation, sadness, & feeling powerless.
I hear you. I see you. I feel you.
This is a situation where I wish I had a magic wand and I could fix all the hurt & injustice in this country. There is no magic wand, but we can empower ourselves by focusing on what we can control in our lives. I want to encourage everyone reading this to find encouragement through the Tarot card, “The Chariot.”
The Chariot card in Tarot is a powerful symbol of determination and mastery over one's own life. It represents the strength and willpower needed to steer through life's challenges with confidence. When the world feels chaotic, The Chariot reminds us that true control comes from within. It encourages us to harness our inner power, focusing on what we can control while gracefully releasing what lies beyond our grasp.
Focusing on what we can control looks different for everyone but here are some ways we can go back to feeling like we are in control:
*Having boundaries. Tired of doing certain projects? Are you needing to end something that is no longer working for you? Maybe you’re tired of taking shit from certain people in your life. Place a boundary….Today! Put a stop to anything that is draining your energy or causing unrest in your life.
*Create order. Clean up your house, office, or any space you’re spending a lot of time in. When I’m in chaos, I will start a cleaning spree or organization project and in return will feel more in control of my environment.
*Prioritize time for your passions. Don’t escape from the world - instead pour your energy into what lights you up. Maybe this is a hobby, business, or maybe you’re one of those people that loves projects & chores! When you use (and control) energy, it cannot use you. Talk about empowerment!
*YOU set the tone for the day. Maybe turning on the news (or any TV show) isn’t giving you the vibes you need for a positive day. Instead, grab your cup of java and drink it outside while listening to the birds….or if you live in a noisy city, spend your morning in silence - close the windows, put on noise-cancelling headphones, etc. This automatically puts you in control for how you’re going to show up today. I used to be a morning TV watcher and switched to quiet mornings - it took some work getting out of the habit but it made a HUGE difference with my inner peace.
*Stay connected. Engage in meditation, draw Oracle cards for insight, and spend time connecting with the energy that aligns with your belief system. Life feels less random when you embrace your faith and experience its guidance.
*Spread positivity. Amidst the sadness and disappointment, offering encouragement, sharing support, and holding space for one another can make a significant difference. Be a guiding light for someone in need.
Please experiment with these suggestions for feeling self empowerment and control in your life. I wish you all peace in the days ahead and as always, sending you love & good vibes.
